CONQUEST OF KYIV
CONQUEST OF KYIV
The athletes of the Krakowskie Centrum Taekwon-do brought back 8 medals from the 3rd All-Ukrainian Taekwon-do Tournament, held on 7 May in Kyiv. Seven athletes from our club’s team took part in the competition.
The members of team A confirmed their dominance. Mateusz Dylawerski, Mateusz Kucharz, Karolina Czech and Dobrochna Dolicka won gold medals in sparring. Karolina Nowak won silver after losing the final to Dobrochna in extra time. Our girls also won the women’s team sparring category.
Two athletes from team B+ also took part in the tournament; for them, this was their first international competition. Filip Suder fought brilliantly and won bronze, while Szymon Grzebyk had to settle for fourth place and gained valuable experience.
The trip also had an educational aspect. Throughout Sunday, our athletes visited Kyiv: Independence Square, Hotel Ukraina, St. Sophia’s Cathedral, the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra and the Motherland Monument. For some of our athletes, it was their first opportunity in their lives to ride the metro. They also had the chance to sample traditional Ukrainian cuisine.
The competition was a very valuable and final test before the World Championships in July.
