The 1st Małe Smoki Tournament is behind us
On 14 May, preschoolers training at KCT took part in the 1st Małe Smoki Tournament, organized especially for them. The 86 brave children had to complete an obstacle course and numerous tasks. The audience gathered in the hall could watch an impressive Taekwon-do demonstration performed by children.
At the “Orzeł” Piaski Wielkie Sports Hall, the 1st Małe Smoki Tournament organized by our club took place. The competition was intended for preschoolers who train every day under the supervision of KCT instructors. For most of the children, it was their first tournament and their first gold medals. 86 preschoolers took part in the competition, from groups training in Kurdwanów, os. Albertyńskie, at ul. Litewska and in Wieliczka. Małe Smoki from Kraków and Wieliczka preschools were also present.
The children had to complete a course with various obstacles and tasks. After crossing the starting line, the young competitor faced the first task: jumping over a lying target five times and performing a forward roll on a mat. Next came a coordination ladder and a slalom between cones while carrying a beanbag on the head. The next task consisted of bouncing a balloon with one hand 10 times and performing 10 ap chagi kicks on a target. The greatest challenge was breaking a board with a fist, which every child handled very well. For the older preschoolers, an additional competition called tempówki was prepared, involving performing ap chagi kicks on a paddle as quickly as possible within 10 seconds.
In the girls’ group, Lena Nowak proved to be the fastest, performing 38 ap chagi kicks. Hania Pręczek took second place with 34 kicks. Third place went to Daria Błachno, with 32 kicks. In the boys’ group, first place went to Wojtek Kruczyk, with 40 kicks. Szymon Jaskólski performed 39 kicks, while Jakub Dejer performed 37.
The preschoolers and the gathered audience could watch a demonstration of the skills and fitness of older fellow students who train every day under the supervision of coach Mikołaj Kotowicz in the section in Łagiewniki. The older students presented spectacular kicks, broke wooden boards and performed a demonstration fight using soft pads. There were also swiftly and smoothly performed forward rolls and a demonstration of traditional patterns. The preschoolers could see what their instructors would teach them in the near future.
The parents had an opportunity to see their children in action. The tournament was a good opportunity for parents to see what progress their children were making and how they were developing their fitness and skills by participating in Taekwon-do training.
