Full-Throttle Riding at Malino Brdo
Full-Throttle Riding at Malino Brdo
It was full-throttle riding. The longest downhill run at the Malino Brdo ski resort is almost 4 km long. The participants of the winter camp in Ružomberok had plenty of fun on it.
The second session of the winter camp took place in Ružomberok, Slovakia. The participants stayed at the 3-star Aćko Hotel, which was equipped, among other things, with a swimming pool. Every day, our campers took a ski bus straight from the hotel to the slopes.
The Malino Brdo ski resort is located on a mountain of the same name. A gondola lift takes everyone to the intermediate station. From there, our skiers and snowboarders could ride on beginner slopes, use chairlifts and drag lifts to get even higher to the red- and black-rated runs, or take the longest run down to the lower station of the lift. The most skilled participants had a chance to show what they could do in the snow park.
After several hours of riding, there was still training to do. After all, the Polish Championships were almost a month away. Divided into groups, the children and younger cadets prepared for their events under the guidance of coach Aleksandra Raźny. The older group, under the supervision of coach Mikołaj Kotowicz, worked out in the gym and trained boxing.
Our participants visited the hotel pool almost every day. However, halfway through the camp, the camp staff decided to take everyone to Gino Park in the town of Besenova. There, indoor pools, numerous thermal pools with transparent and quite brown hot water, and giant waterslides awaited them—the longest of which were 260 m long!
The weather was favorable, and so were the moods. Fortunately, the participants also avoided injuries—the only break was a broken ski. On Sunday, it was time to say goodbye, as school started the following day.
