Zubrzyca 2018 – Family Sports Holiday

Zubrzyca 2018 – Family Sports Holiday

We returned happy! This year’s edition of the Family Sports Holiday was the best so far. Although the weather was not kind to us, the excellent facilities of Orawski Dwór and the outstanding planning of the daily schedule made this camp exceptional.

We came to Zubrzyca Górna for the second time. Our choice of Orawski Dwór was guided by what the centre offers its guests. The rooms meet a high hotel standard, and their varied layouts meant that every family could feel comfortable. The building has several valuable areas: a gym and training room, reading corners, a TV room, a mini ball pit, a playroom for little ones, a bowling alley, and tables for table tennis, air hockey and billiards.

The SPA was particularly popular. We could use the large swimming pool and the paddling pool with a slide as much as we liked. There were also two saunas and a jacuzzi on site. An extra feature, but one especially appreciated by the female members of the camp, was the massage room.

This allowed us to function extremely efficiently. The families were divided into three age groups: Małe Smoki, meaning preschoolers; big dragons, meaning independent children; and old dragons, meaning parents and guardians.

For the younger children, we organised indoor and outdoor training sessions, educational activities during which they learned to tell the time and tie their shoes, mini-disco, reading and watching cartoons, as well as sports competitions. The older children also had swimming lessons organised in the pool.

The parents trained as well. Every day there was training under the shelter, where the old dragons lifted weights, hit punching bags and boxed. Aqua fitness was also offered for those who were ambitious. Later in the evenings, there were also activities and integration events for adults.

Taking advantage of a break in the weather, the whole group visited Wypasiona Dolina. The youngest children first conquered the mini rope park and then went boating. The older ones tackled the higher climbing and zip-line routes, where they successfully battled trembling muscles and their fear of heights.

The excellent food should not be overlooked either. Breakfast was served as a buffet from 8 to 10 a.m., and the selection of food and drinks was enormous. Lunch was truly restaurant-quality. Dinner also consisted of a wide selection of cold meats and other cold dishes, salads and hot meals.

There is a strong possibility that we will go to Zubrzyca again next year. Then we will be able to enjoy further attractions, including outdoor pools, a jacuzzi and a graduation tower.
