XVI ST. NICHOLAS TOURNAMENT IS BEHIND US
Just before Christmas, on Saturday, December 21, the 16th St. Nicholas Taekwon-do Tournament was held. This event combines a sports competition with a family fair. This year, 197 competitors took part, which is over 21 more people than last year. If we added the competitors’ siblings and guardians, the number would be quite substantial.
Everything officially began at 9:00, when Małe Smoki began arriving at the sports hall. However, in order for this to happen, we had started organizing everything two months earlier, and on the day of the tournament our instructors and helpers (trainees, parents) began working from 7:00. Małe Smoki had to complete an obstacle course, where they had to perform exercises on a coordination ladder, a forward roll, kicks on a kick pad, and break a board. At the end of the course, speed techniques awaited them as a separate competition. Additionally, those willing could use their flexible bodies and compete for a medal in the splits. Some parents of Małe Smoki did not want merely to participate passively in the tournament and signed up for soft-stick fights. This year, the men came out on top, taking all the places on the podium.
In the fair section, just as last year, there was plenty happening. A photo booth so that everyone could capture this wonderful day. An inflatable pirate ship with a slide and an inflatable obstacle course were very popular. Children could also have their faces painted, shoot a bow, leave with a balloon dog, or eat something delicious at our buffet. See you next year!
