Report from the Family Sports Holiday in Korbielów
A festival of colors, excursions, taekwon-do training for children and parents, swimming pools—these are just some of the attractions of the family holiday. See how KCT can organize active recreation for club members and their families.
From 6 to 13 August 2022, the Family Sports Holiday in Korbielów, organized by our club, took place. On the first day, everyone began arriving at the hotel at around 1:00 p.m. From the very beginning, a wonderful atmosphere of friendship and kindness could be felt. Those who were attending the family camp for the first time were given a very warm welcome.
After this welcome, everyone sat down for lunch (after the journey, everyone needed a coffee to recharge, which the already red-hot coffee machine could barely handle), during which all the rules and the coaches were introduced. After the meal, we settled into our rooms and had time to explore the center and the surrounding area. The sauna, swimming pool, jacuzzi, table tennis table and training rooms immediately caught our attention. After dinner came the first activity: a mini disco attended by children, parents and coaches. Everyone danced, laughed and had fun together. Late in the evening, when the children had gone to sleep, all the parents met to talk together, get to know one another and play chess or board games, or simply listen to music. That was how the first day passed.
The next morning we had breakfast, after which all the younger participants, divided into age groups, took turns participating in various activities: swimming-pool activities, taekwon-do training, and educational and integration games and activities. In the afternoon, it was time for training sessions for children and adults. Coaches Magda and Kamila took excellent care of the kids, while coaches Mikołaj and Darek took the older groups under their wings. Martial arts training combined with good fun is exactly what we do best. Some could fool around, kick and roll around on the ground, while others could spar and do combat-oriented exercises. There was something interesting for everyone. As on every other day, the evening was a time for mini disco, karaoke, integration, board games and all kinds of conversations.
Over the following days, there was an excursion to Mount Pilsko via Hala Miziowa. The route was not among the easiest, but the views were certainly worth the climb. The fact that even several-year-old children climbed it—and the youngest children were 4 years old—may motivate those who are put off by the mountains! After the excursion, coach Darek held a training session for the toughest and most persistent participants. True tough guys showed up, which made him very happy.
Saunas, swimming pools, jacuzzis, games, training sessions, mini discos, badminton, volleyball, football, bows, pétanque, board games and films were regular elements of the camp program, but this year new equipment and interesting solutions allowed us to expand the range of camp activities. All participants could use the new slackline. The so-called Gibbon made it possible to feel like a monkey in a tree for a while, which was great fun for everyone. Karaoke turned out to be a total hit. Everyone sang songs of various kinds—from Zenek Martyniuk through Kobranocka to Whitney Houston.
Among the camp attractions, the excursion to the brewery in Żywiec should also be highlighted. There, it was possible to learn about the beer-making process, and after touring the brewery grounds, connoisseurs could taste cold, delicious beer straight from the tap. Of course, for those less familiar with beer, it was alcohol-free 😊
On the last day, after all the attractions, it was time for the long-awaited festival of colors. Everyone threw colors at one another, jumped and had fun, and it all ended with the Belgian dance performed by both the older and the youngest camp participants. The words from a fairy tale fit here, changing “fly” to “dance”: “anyone can dance, sometimes a little better, sometimes a little worse.”
