World Championships for Children, Cadets and Juniors
World Championships for Children, Cadets and Juniors
From 24 to 31 August 2024, the World Championships for Children, Cadets and Juniors, organised by WAKO, took place in Budapest. Among the representatives of Poland was also Stefania Kotowicz, who made her debut at an event of this rank, competing in two disciplines: pointfighting and light contact in the older cadets’ -50 kg category.
Stefania performed brilliantly, demonstrating excellent technical skills and enormous fighting spirit. Ultimately, she finished the competition in 5th place in both disciplines, narrowly missing out on the medal zone and proving that she is ready to compete at the highest level.

First fights – a confident start in pointfighting
In her debut appearance at the World Championships, Stefania faced Bulgaria’s pointfighting representative Victorią Ambovą. Despite the pressure associated with her first appearance at such a major event, Stefania imposed her pace from the start and controlled the course of the fight. Ultimately, she won confidently, defeating her opponent by a score of 8:5.
This victory secured her promotion to the quarterfinal, where she faced a difficult opponent – Italy’s representative Alice Constanzo.
Pointfighting quarterfinal – a fierce fight with the Italian
The quarterfinal fight with Alice Constanzo was one of Stefania’s toughest bouts during the championships. The fight proceeded at a fast pace, and both athletes demonstrated a high technical level. Unfortunately, despite her tremendous commitment, Stefania lost the fight.
Stefania finished her pointfighting competition in the quarterfinal, but reaching this stage alone is a great achievement, especially for a debutant.

Success in light contact – a confident victory over the Taiwanese athlete
After finishing her pointfighting competition, Stefania focused on light contact, where in her first fight she faced an athlete from Chinese Taipei – Ma Rui Ling.
Stefania entered the mat extremely motivated. Already in the first round, she dealt with her opponent smoothly, winning by technical superiority. This victory opened the way to the quarterfinal, where she faced Spain’s representative Danielą Jurado Picon.
Light contact quarterfinal – a determined fight and valuable experience
In the light contact quarterfinal, Stefania faced a very strong opponent from Spain. Despite the difficult task, our athlete fought until the very end. Although she did not manage to advance to the medal zone, Stefania gained valuable experience that will certainly pay off in the future.
Summary – a promising debut on the world stage
For Stefania Kotowicz, participating in the World Championships was her first appearance at an event of this rank. Finishing in 5th place in both disciplines is a tremendous success, especially considering that Stefania is only beginning her international kickboxing career.
Congratulations to Stefania on this wonderful debut, and thank you for representing Poland and our club with honour on the international stage! We are certain that this is only the beginning of great achievements for this young athlete.
Well done, Stefania! The entire club is proud of you!
