XXI St. Nicholas Taekwon-do Tournament
This was the 21st edition of the St. Nicholas Taekwon-do Tournament, held on December 7, 2025, at the Com-Com Zone sports hall in Nowa Huta. For years, the event has brought together the youngest taekwon-do practitioners and their families. See what happened during this year’s edition!
The youngest competitors’ bouts
From the morning hours, the hall filled with the youngest participants in the competition – Małe Smoki. For many of them, it was a special day and their first tournament. A debut on the mat, completing the obstacle course to the loud cheering of their parents, their first sporting successes, as well as strong emotions that sometimes ended in tears quickly turned into smiles thanks to the support of the coaches. As the subsequent groups – children and juniors – took their turns, the intensity of the competition and sporting emotions grew, and the competitors faced one another in patterns, special techniques, speed-kicking, soft-stick and semi-contact bouts.
The youngest competitors began at 9:30, when Małe Smoki born in 2023–2021 stepped onto the mat. At 10:00, competitors from the 2020 birth year began their events, while at 11:00, the group Children / Małe Smoki born in 2019 joined the competition.
A truly festive atmosphere filled the hall, largely thanks to the St. Nicholas fair, which transformed the competition venue into a space full of fun and joy. An inflatable castle, colorful slides, a photo booth, face painting and balloons meant that the sporting excitement was combined with the carefree joy of childhood. Families could rest while enjoying snacks, and the youngest participants could recharge before their next events.
At the end of the tournament, every competitor received a medal – some for podium finishes, others for their courage and excellent performance during their first or another competition. The sight of the children proudly showing their trophies was probably the most beautiful moment of the entire day.
A huge thank-you to everyone who helped organize the event – the indispensable volunteers, parents and coaches who gave up their Sunday to cheer for and support the young competitors. Your energy, smiles and kind hearts made the atmosphere truly exceptional. Congratulations to all participants!
