“I am hugely impressed by the entire event. (…) Everything was brilliantly and thoughtfully organized.” — this is how one eyewitness, Wiktoria’s father, describes the VIX Mikołajkowy Taekwon-do Tournament.
On 16 December 2017, the VIX MTT was held together with a festival. The event took place in the KS Orzeł sports hall. 149 competitors took part. The tournament began at 9:00 with the registration of the youngest age group: 3–4-year-old Małe Smoki. As a reminder, the MS had to complete an obstacle course. An additional medal event was speed kicking, that is, kicking against the clock. After this event, a soft-stick sparring category was held for the parents of this age group. The same applied to the 5–6-year-olds. Here too, the parents could demonstrate their abilities, while the children “kicked” for medals.
Wiktoria’s father, whose daughter was one of the young participants, said about the tournament: “I am hugely impressed by the entire event. In every respect. Kiki was delighted and, at the same time, took second place in speed kicking. A brilliant idea.
For me, it is truly amazing that a group of young people is able to devote their time to such small children.
Everything was brilliantly and thoughtfully organized.
Additionally, my wife finally became convinced about Taekwondo after seeing that Wiktorka is not the only girl of this age who attends the classes. I hope that you will never tire of such an initiative and that, through your attitude,
you will inspire the little ones positively to practise Taekwondo.”
Then it was time for the older Children. In this category, the competition took place in 4 events: soft-stick sparring, special techniques, speed kicking and patterns. Each was awarded medals separately. In the Juniors and Cadets, semi-contact sparring was held instead of soft-stick sparring. Of course, after these categories, the parents also had their moment.
After the competition ended, each participant received a commemorative sports bag and participation medals for those who had not previously been awarded. It is worth mentioning that festival attractions were available during the tournament, including an inflatable slide, face painting, cotton candy, refreshments and more.
