Emilia Is Poland’s Vice-Champion in Kickboxing

Two of our athletes – Emilia Fiutowska and Michał Klimek – took part in the Polish Junior Kickboxing Championships in the light-contact formula. The competition took place on 14–16 May 2021 in Włoszakowice near Leszno.

Participation in the Polish Junior Championships was our first competition after many years away from events of the Polish Kickboxing Association. Our club was represented by two athletes under the supervision of coaches Mikołaj Kotowicz and Michał Krupa. The tournament was very strongly contested, both in terms of numbers and quality – 204 female and male athletes from 66 clubs across Poland took part.

On Saturday, Michał Klimek competed in the -57 kg category. Unfortunately, he lost his elimination bout on points after a fiercely contested fight against Bartłomiej Biadała from Ziętek Team Brzeziny. In the first part of the fight, Michał dominated his opponent, hitting him repeatedly with kicks, including spinning kicks to the head. Since junior bouts lasted 3 rounds of 2 minutes, our brave fighter ran out of energy in the final part of the fight, allowing his opponent to make up the points deficit.

On Sunday, Emilia Fiutowska entered the mat, competing in the -70 kg category. Thanks to a bye, she went straight into the semifinal. Her first bout against Natalia Kałuża from ASW Mogilany lasted only one round. Emilia’s dominance was so great that her opponent did not come out for the second round, and our fighter recorded the first TKO victory of her career. In the final, she faced Martyna Czerepińska, a KSW Łuków athlete and European boxing champion. After a 3-round battle, the judges awarded the win by several points to Czerepińska, and Emilia had to settle for the title of Polish Vice-Champion.

Michał and Emilia paved the way and proved that our club has an excellently prepared squad of athletes. This season, we are planning several more kickboxing competitions, with the nearest tournaments taking place as early as June.
