On 20 February, a grading exam for student ranks was held in the gymnasium of Primary School No. 100 in the Albertyńskie housing estate. Children, teenagers and adults who train daily under the guidance of instructors from Krakowskie Centrum Taekwon-do took part in the exam.
The examiner representing the Polish Taekwon-do Union was Mikołaj Kotowicz, 5th dan. The examination board assistants were coach Dobrochna Dolicka, Magdalena Kotowicz, Maciej Stupak, Rafał Żelazko, Mateusz Dylawerski and Magdalena Wardzała. The exam consisted of practical and theoretical parts. Depending on the rank being tested, participants had to demonstrate patterns, sequences, kicking techniques, hand techniques, self-defence elements, sparring and breaking techniques. Each person taking the exam also had to demonstrate knowledge of the history of taekwon-do. The practitioners’ endurance and physical fitness were taken into consideration.
Children made up the largest group of participants, with around eighty taking the exam. For those taking their first exam for a white belt, it was no small source of stress, especially in the children’s group, but they handled it very well. Everyone earned their first belts and new stripes. Several people passed two student ranks. Eryk Stupak, Drexler Witold, Szopa Szymon, Osikowski Aleksander and Chrzan Hubert passed three student ranks. The boys worked hard during training, and their efforts and perseverance in perfecting their technique were rewarded.
The exam lasted longest for the four people testing for 3rd kup. After a persistent struggle with fatigue, which grew minute by minute, Kinga Koczapska, Grzegorz Pazdan, Jacek Chwastek and Bartosz Bar successfully completed the exam. From Monday, red stripes appeared on their blue belts. Each practitioner was promoted to a higher rank. No one failed the exam.
We warmly congratulate everyone and wish you perseverance in your continued training.
