Farewell to the 2018 summer holidays at the camp in Porąbka

Training three times a day, a trained staff, more than 100 participants, sunny weather, delicious food and fooling around at Energylandia—these are the first things that come to mind when thinking about the camp in Porąbka.

We stayed at the Children’s Holiday Home. The kids had a playground at their disposal, where the bird’s-nest swing and archery were especially popular, as well as an Orlik pitch for football and basketball, where we chased the ball every day. The rooms and bathrooms met all standards, while the meals served three times a day provided us with the energy for a whole day full of experiences.

Taking advantage of the beautiful weather that accompanied us practically throughout our stay, we went for walks by the river located near the centre. It allowed us to cool off on hot days. Staying with the theme of nature, one day we went to the mountains. Although it was not Rysy, after reaching the summit we needed a moment to catch our breath and enjoy the view of the nearby Mount Żar.

In the evenings, we organised a mini-disco, which was very popular among the campers. When the disco did not take place one evening, several children came the next day asking us to organise it. Once, for a change, we offered karaoke, which the children also enjoyed, as demonstrated by their performance of a song by Sławomir (which can be seen on the Camp Tkd fan page on Facebook, along with the rest of the recordings and photos from the camp).

Of course, taekwon-do training could not be missing from our camp! It took place three times a day, in three thematic blocks: patterns, technique and kicks, sparring, and self-defence. Martial arts enthusiasts felt like they were in paradise. At the end of the stay, an examination for student grades was held, which motivated the trainees to participate actively in the classes.

Apart from the daily training sessions and games on the playground, we devoted one entire day of the camp to a visit to Energylandia, the largest amusement park in Poland. The children were delighted and, despite the long queues, waited patiently to experience incredible emotions for a short while. There was an enormous range of attractions, from extreme roller coasters and fairy-tale carousels to performances by magicians and stunt performers, as well as a 7D cinema. Every child, regardless of age or aptitude, found something for themselves. Because of the heat that had accompanied us for several days, we could not resist visiting the water zone, which offered several pools and slides. Without a doubt, it was the day our charges had looked forward to most, and, most importantly, they were not disappointed after returning to the centre.

We spent 12 wonderful days there without getting bored for even a second. The youngest campers were 6 years old and managed wonderfully—we are proud of them! This may show that the taekwon-do training conducted by our instructors teaches independence, and that our camps are so enjoyable and so much happens at them that children have no time for sadness. Now there is nothing left but to wait patiently for the winter-break camp.
