Flanders Fields Tournament 2024
On 19 October, our team had the opportunity to take part in the international Flanders Fields 2024 tournament in Mechelen, Belgium. Below you will find a report from this event!
Arrival in Brussels and sightseeing
On Friday, 18 October, we flew to Brussels, where we began our adventure in Belgium. We had the opportunity to see one of Brussels’ most distinctive landmarks – Atomium, an impressive structure that has become a symbol of the city.
After a short walk around the area, we also visited the Design Museum, which delighted us with its modern exhibitions and inspiring designs. We spent the evening preparing mentally for the following day.
Flanders Fields Tournament 2024
On 19 October came the day of the main event – the Flanders Fields 2024 tournament in Mechelen. The competition was at a very high level, with as many as 491 competitors from 14 countries taking part. Our team performed brilliantly… quite literally winning medals!
Our team’s results
Our competitors won a total of 11 medals, both in sparring and patterns. Here are the detailed results:
Sparring:
- Mykhaile Reva – 1st place, juniors -40 kg
- Anna Siedlarczyk – 1st place, juniors -45 kg
- Krzysztof Jaworski – 1st place, cadets -45 kg
- Piotr Gardeła – 1st place, cadets +60 kg
- Filip Winnicki – 1st place, juniors -62 kg
- Aleksandra Jurys – 2nd place, junior women -65 kg
- Magdalena Andrejczyn – 2nd place, cadets -55 kg
- Oliwia Lisowska – 3rd place, cadet women -50 kg
- Gabriel Budyn – 3rd place, juniors -45 kg
- Kamila Budek – 3rd place, senior women -68 kg
Patterns:
- Kamila Budek – 3rd place, senior women 4-1 cup
The Flanders Fields Tournament 2024 was an incredible opportunity for us to test our skills in international competition. Every competitor gave their all. Thank you all for your support and for keeping your fingers crossed! We are returning to Poland full of pride and motivated for the challenges ahead.
