IMPRESSIONS AFTER THE SUMMER SPORTS CAMP IN KASINKA MAŁA

The Summer Sports Camp has just ended. This is our new formula for summer recreation, based on the child’s comprehensive athletic development. The trip was intended mainly for younger children; even two Małe Smoki took part. The camp took place at the “Lubogoszcz” Training and Recreation Centre, where we had a large area, sports fields, common rooms and training rooms at our disposal, as well as the surrounding forest. The weather was favourable, and we were able to take full advantage of this place.

On the day of arrival, our first major activity awaited us immediately after getting off the coach, namely a one-hour walk to the centre. Most of the route followed the black trail leading to the summit of Lubogoszcz. It was not easy. Fortunately, everyone reached the base, where our luggage was waiting for us. That day, there were integration activities, taekwon-do training, an introduction to the regulations and a mini-disco.

The day after arrival, our campers had a multitude of attractions waiting for them: a zip line, a climbing wall and an outdoor game. It took us the entire morning; everyone was happy, and no one was able to choose what they liked best. All the attractions will remain in their memories for a long time.

On the following days, thanks to the sunny weather, we often spent time on the sports field or playground. The children were divided into two training and sports groups, and activities were held in those groups. There was football, volleyball, and we also taught the children to play baseball. There was also free time outdoors. Bows, boules and badminton nets were set up. During this time, everyone could do whatever they felt like, spend time actively, or talk and strengthen their bonds.

Taekwon-do training was held once a day. It took place in the gym or on the sports field, depending on the time of day and the planned exercises. Training for the older group was led by Coach Ludwik together with Coach Dawid, who worked on fighting techniques and kicks. The younger group was supervised by Coach Magda and Coach Kamila. The exercises focused on coordination, kicks and fighting with soft paddles, with competitions held on one of the days. We divided the participants into three groups according to height so that the chances would be even. Emotions reached fever pitch, even among the oldest participants. The winners received certificates and a hug from the president.

Having stayed for a week at the “Lubogoszcz” Training and Recreation Centre, it would have been a sin not to climb to the mountain summit. Toughened up by our trips to the shop, we set off. Our guide was Coach Nikodem, who sacrificed himself for our benefit and decided the day before to run to the summit and find a suitable route for our little ones. We set off immediately after breakfast and returned in time for lunch. The route was somewhat demanding, but after all, this was a sports camp. We were impressed by two of our six-year-olds, who maintained a good pace. This is where our motto “Małe Smoki – great possibilities” proves true.

The participants also enjoyed the mini-disco at this camp. Every evening, more and more people were eager to dance, and they quickly learned the dance routines. Music contests were also very popular. There was a different competition at each disco: freeze dance, limbo, forming groups and passing the soft paddle. Only on the last evening did we repeat one of the games at the request of our charges.

On the day of departure, certificates were presented for participation in the camp. For most of our charges, this was their first trip without their parents. People who kept their rooms clean throughout the trip were also awarded. Afterwards, there was free time on the sports field, lunch, and then a trip to the petrol station, where the coach was waiting for us. Those who won first place in the cleanliness competition could look forward to sweet prizes in the form of ice cream.

And so our Summer Sports Camp came to an end. See you next year!
