Report on the 20th St. Nicholas Taekwon-do Tournament

The 20th St. Nicholas Taekwon-do Tournament is now behind us. This was the largest edition of this tournament in history – as many as 343 female and male competitors from our club took part. We encourage you to view the results.

The oldest among you may remember the first editions, which took place in such locations as room 26d in Kurdwanów. Although the number of competitors did not reach one hundred then, organisational shortcomings made the tournament very chaotic.

This year’s edition was made possible by many people and institutions, who deserve our immense thanks:

• all the coaches, for preparing the competitors and running this event;

• all the referees, thanks to whom we were able to hold the competition on 7 mats, which meant that we started and finished the tournament on time;

• all the assistants and volunteers, including the parents involved in registration, catering (thank you for all the delicious cakes, sandwiches and snacks), photography, and loading and unloading the equipment;

• all the female and male competitors, who demonstrated a very good sporting level, fighting spirit and an understanding of the principles of fair play;

• our social media ninja Gosia Jakubczyk for the marketing preparation and promotion of the event;

• the Ministry of Sport and Tourism, which supported us financially, allowing us to organise this event on a grander scale than usual;

• the Municipality of Kraków, which gave us puzzles a year ago, thanks to which we were able to hold the tournament on so many mats.

But there is one more person whom I would like to thank in particular. That is Kamil Brzozowski. Most of you do not know him, as he has been working at our club “backstage” for over a year. He was the one who did all the dirty work. He could be called the tournament’s organisational director – he began working on the St. Nicholas Taekwon-do Tournament several months ago, took care throughout the entire time to ensure that everything was buttoned up, and will devote a few more days to settling the project. Bravo for a job excellently done! Thank you for everything!
