Report on the Family Sports Holiday in Korbielów

From 6 to 13 August 2022, the Family Sports Holiday in Korbielów, organized by our club, took place. On the first day, everyone began arriving at the hotel at around 1:00 p.m. From the very beginning, one could feel the wonderful atmosphere of friendship and kindness. The people who were attending the family camp for the first time were given a very warm welcome.

After the aforementioned welcome, everyone sat down for lunch (after the journey, everyone had to have a little coffee to recharge, which the red-hot coffee machine could barely handle right from the start), during which all the rules and the coaches were introduced. After the meal, we settled into our rooms and had time to explore the resort and the surrounding area. The sauna, swimming pool, jacuzzi, table tennis table and training rooms immediately caught our attention. After dinner came the time for the first activity: a mini disco attended by children, parents and coaches. Everyone danced, laughed and had fun together. Late in the evening, when the children had gone to bed, all the parents met to talk together, get to know one another and play chess or board games, or simply listen to music. That was how the first day passed.

The next morning we had breakfast, and afterwards all the younger participants, divided into age groups, took turns participating in various activities: swimming pool sessions, taekwon-do training, and educational and integration games and activities. In the afternoon, it was time for training for children and adults. Coaches Magda and Kamila took excellent care of the kids, while coaches Mikołaj and Darek took the older groups under their wings. Martial arts training combined with good fun is exactly what we do best. Some could fool around, kick and roll around on the ground, while others could spar and do exercises in preparation for fighting. There was something interesting for everyone. As every other day, the evening was a time for mini disco, karaoke, integration, board games and all kinds of conversations.

In the following days, we went on a trip to Mount Pilsko via Hala Miziowa. The route was not the easiest, but the views were certainly worth the climb. For those who are put off by the mountains, the fact that even several-year-old children climbed it may be encouraging—and the youngest children were just 4 years old! After the trip, coach Darek held a training session for the toughest and most persevering participants. Real tough guys showed up, which made him very happy.

Saunas, swimming pools, jacuzzis,  games, training sessions, mini disco, badminton, volleyball, football, archery, boules, board games and films were regular elements of the camp programme, but this year new equipment and interesting solutions allowed us to expand the range of camp activities. All participants could use the new Slackline. The so-called Gibbon made it possible to feel like a monkey in a tree for a moment, which gave everyone a lot of fun. Karaoke turned out to be a total hit. Everyone sang all kinds of songs—from Zenek Martyniuk through Kobranocka to Whitney Houston.

Another camp attraction worth mentioning was the trip to the brewery in Żywiec, where it was possible to learn about the beer-making process and, for connoisseurs, to taste a cold, delicious beer straight from the tap after the tour of the brewery grounds. Of course, for those less familiar with the subject, the beer was completely alcohol-free 😊

On the last day, after all the activities, it was time for the long-awaited Festival of Colours. Everyone threw colours at one another, jumped and had fun, and the whole event ended with a Belgian dance performed by both the older and the youngest camp participants. The words from a fairy tale fit here, changing “fly” to “dance”: “everyone can dance, sometimes a little better, sometimes a little worse.”
