Sparring seminar with Katya Solovey
Sparring seminar with Katya Solovey
March 8 is a special day, which many associate with flowers. However, we decided to celebrate it differently – on the mat, during an intensive sparring seminar in Olomouc! It was there that 8 athletes from Krakowskie Centrum Taekwon-do had the opportunity to train under the guidance of Katya Solovey, one of the most decorated martial artists.
A martial arts legend and our athletes
The seminar was attended by: Michał Klimek, Michał Krupa, Karolina Czech, Zofia Zapolska, Emilia Fiutowska, Grzegorz Pazdan, Dariusz Pazdan, Szymon Grzebyk.
Katya Solovey (V Dan) is a decorated athlete who has dominated the world’s mats for years. She has two ITF world championship titles and as many as nine European championships in the same federation. But that is not all – she has won the ITF World Cup twice, as well as three WAKO world championship titles and two European championships in that organization. Her impressive collection of achievements is completed by four victories in the WAKO World Cup.

Seminar schedule
The seminar was divided into two intensive training blocks and a training session. Each participant had the opportunity to work on key aspects of sports fighting:
- Modern sports fighting strategies – techniques and tactics used at the highest level of competition.
- Sparring combinations – effective sequences of strikes and blocks used during fights.
- Partner work at distance – the ability to position oneself appropriately and control the distance.
- Practical technique-improvement exercises – refining details that can determine victory in a fight.
New knowledge – new opportunities
The knowledge and experience gained during the seminar will certainly translate into even better results for our athletes in future competitions. Every minute spent on the mat was a valuable lesson bringing us closer to further successes.
We would like to thank Katya Solovey for the wealth of knowledge shared, the inspiration and unforgettable emotions!
