Obstacle course

The event consists of completing an obstacle course made up of fitness tasks.

  1. 5 squats with ap chagi
  2. Run through a coordination ladder
  3. 10 alternating straight punches at a target
  4. Forward roll on a mat
  5. 10 alternating apcha olligi kicks at a paddle
  6. Go through a tunnel
  7. Break a board with a straight punch
  8. Crawl through a ladder
  9. Hit a balloon 5 times with a hand or foot
  10. Slalom between cones

Special techniques

The event consists of reaching a target with a foot technique at the highest possible height. Competitors compete against each other by attempting to clear successive heights. Competitors have two attempts to hit the target at each height.

Children may perform the technique from the ground, and neither the striking surface nor the point of contact with the paddle is judged. Older participants kick while jumping, hitting the paddle from below with the ap kumchi surface, then landing without any part of the body other than the feet touching the ground.

In the event of a tie, the winner is the competitor who cleared the last height on the first attempt, while the other competitors did so on the second. Earlier rounds are then checked until the previous criterion is met. If there is still no decision, the shorter competitor wins.

Speed kicking

The event consists of performing the greatest number of kicks within a specified time. Competitors compete against each other in a single round.

The youngest participants perform ap chagi kicks for 10 seconds without having to change legs.

Children perform ap chagi kicks for 15 seconds, alternating the left and right legs.

Younger juniors perform dollyo chagi kicks for 15 seconds, first with one leg and then with the other.

The youngest participants born in 2019–2017 kick a target set horizontally at waist height.

Those born in 2016–2012 use the Zemita system, and the target height depends on the year of birth.

Younger juniors use the Zemita system, and the target height depends on the height category.

Regardless of age group, the foot must touch the ground between successful kicks.

For younger juniors, only techniques performed with a circular motion and an extended foot are counted.

In the event of a tie, there is a playoff, followed by victory for the competitor with better technique.

Soft-stick

The event consists of defeating an opponent on points in a fight with a foam stick.

The fight is stopped after each strike for which points may be awarded.

Scoring areas:
The entire head – 2 points; other parts of the body except the hands – 1 point

Permitted techniques:
Strikes in all planes that do not cause the stick to be dropped – including thrusts and strikes after turning

If the difference reaches 10 points during the fight, the bout ends due to technical superiority.

The bout lasts 1 round × 1.5 minutes; overtime lasts 45 seconds.

In the event of a tie, there is overtime, followed by a fight until the first winning action.

Patterns

The event consists of defeating an opponent by presenting the pattern better.

Competitors perform in pairs a traditional formal pattern selected by the judge.

The highest pattern that may be proposed is the one required for the rank preceding the lower of the two competing ranks, but within the range from Chon-Ji Tul to Choong-Moo Tul.

If the category concerns competitors below yellow belt, the half-patterns Saju Jirugi (always) and Saju Makgi (when the lower rank is at least a yellow stripe) may also be selected.

The judges decide the winner by indicating their choice. To win the bout, a majority of votes must be received.

In the event of a tie, there is overtime requiring the winner to be indicated.

Semi-contact

The event consists of defeating an opponent on points in a fight using hands and feet. The fight is stopped after each strike for which points may be awarded.

Target areas: High zone – the entire head; middle zone – the front and sides of the torso

Permitted techniques: Hand techniques with the front or back of the fist, excluding spinning techniques; kicks using the foot or shin as the striking surface

If the difference reaches 10 points during the fight, the bout ends due to technical superiority.

The bout for children and younger juniors lasts 1 round × 1.5 minutes; overtime lasts 45 seconds.

The bout for cadets lasts 2 rounds × 1.5 minutes, with a 30-second break and 45-second overtime.

In the event of a tie, there is overtime, followed by a fight until the first winning action.
