Porąbka was great!
Porąbka was great!
108 participants and 9 staff members were able to experience this during the Taekwon-do Summer Camp, which took place from 8–20 August 2017 at the Children’s Holiday Home in Porąbka.
The camp was attended by athletes from the Krakowskie Centrum Taekwon-do, supported by groups from Iława, Wieliczka, Gdów, Krapkowice and Gogolin. The camp’s 12 days were filled with a busy programme.
Three training sessions a day were planned, and that is exactly what took place. Before breakfast there were patterns, before noon kicking training, and before dinner sparring. After dinner and mini disco, coach Klaudia led additional hip-hop dance classes.
There was no shortage of other events either. Taking advantage of the centre’s facilities, the participants played football and held a table tennis tournament. There were also art and literary competitions. The christening of our new campers took an interesting form—it took place at 12:30… at night!
The first of the two planned trips was a visit to the Forest Park of Surprises in Ustroń. There, visitors could admire fallow deer, roe deer, goats and young deer walking among them, as well as wild boar and bison separated by railings. The greatest attraction was the presentations and flight displays of owls and birds of prey: a white-tailed eagle, goshawk and buzzard.
When the weather became more stable, our entire group went to the swimming pool in Andrychów. The brand-new facility, in its open-air area, offered a 50-metre pool, a huge recreational pool, a paddling pool, a slide, a beach volleyball court and green space.
The camp ended with an examination for student grades, followed by a bonfire with sausage roasting. Most importantly for the organiser and, above all, the participants, despite such a large number of people, there was not a single need to visit a healthcare facility.
To sum up, Porąbka was great. We will return there next year in the second half of August.
