Mikoszewo 2015

78 people—that was the group who trained between 22 July and 2 August 2015 during the Summer Mega Taekwon-do Camp, held in the seaside town of Mikoszewo. Training three, and even four, times a day, a training seminar, a trip to Gdańsk—oh, there was a lot going on!

This time, for the first time, we stayed at OWK “Korona” in Mikoszewo, right at the mouth of the Vistula into the Baltic Sea. The beach was barely 1.5 km away, but the weather meant that we went to the beach only a few times.

The entire group was accommodated in a separate part of the centre, in new, two-storey cabins. We had not only sports fields and the coastal dunes at our disposal, but also a covered gymnasium.

The participants included athletes from Krakowskie Centrum Taekwon-do from almost all its branches, as well as representatives of friendly clubs from Iława and Krapkowice—78 people in total!

Training sessions were held three times a day as required, under the supervision of coaches Mateusz Dylawerski, Adam Wargal, Magdalena Wardzała, Krzysztof Obrębski and Mikołaj Kotowicz. For those willing, an additional early-morning training session was also organised, led by the tireless coach Adam.

The training was complemented by a training seminar. At the special invitation, coach Piotr Bernat, 5th dan, coach of LKSW Dan Świdnik, flew in. Krystian Żuk, a leading athlete of the same club, accompanied him as an assistant. For two days, all camp participants could learn semi-contact in its finest form.

There was also time for fun alongside sport. A badminton tournament and board-game competitions—Blokus, Carcassonne and Scrabble—were held, and participants played frisbee, volleyball and football. A camp edition of the programme Mam Talent was also organised.

A trip to Gdańsk proved to be a particular attraction. Accompanied by guides, the camp participants were able to visit the Old Town and then went to the European Solidarity Centre. This modern museum, established at the site where Polish freedom was taking shape, aroused extraordinary interest even among the younger visitors.

Although the camp ended only recently, the next one is already being planned. Details will be revealed soon.
